Last update: 29 April 2026

Continuing professional development (CPD) for academic staff in higher education is organised primarily at the institutional level.

Higher education institutions are responsible for defining policies and measures to support the professional development of academic staff, in accordance with the Law on Higher Education and quality assurance requirements, including Authorization and Accreditation Standards.

CPD activities may include participation in research projects, academic mobility programmes, conferences, training activities and international cooperation initiatives. Institutions may also provide internal training and support mechanisms to improve teaching, research, and administrative competencies.

Participation in CPD is generally encouraged as part of academic responsibilities, but there is no unified national system that regulates or mandates it.
