In the public sector (state- or municipality-owned institutions) teachers are employed as public servants and their employment is governed by the Act on Public Servants. In the private sector the employment of teachers is governed by the Labour code. In private institutions providing school-based adult education, employment also takes place within the framework of civil law, in the form of a contract of employment. In this form of education it is possible to teach in the evening and correspondence schedule, so that the teacher can establish a civil relationship for the performance of adult education tasks in addition to the existing civil service status.
