Last update: 12 April 2024

The conditions of the service of teachers at basic schools (základní školy), upper secondary schools (střední školy), conservatoires (konzervatoře) and tertiary professional schools (vyšší odborné školy) are stipulated by the Act on Education Staff and related decrees. These documents also relate to the teachers of artistic vocational subjects at basic art schools (základní umělecké školy), secondary technical schools (střední odborné školy) and conservatoires, teachers at language schools authorised to organise state language examinations (jazykové školy), teachers at school facilities for further education of education staff (zařízení pro další vzdělávání pedagogických pracovníků). If schools also offer courses of further adult education, the conditions of teachers in these courses are not specifically set by law.

The same applies to the academic staff at higher education institutions (vysoké školy). Conditions of service of those working as teachers and trainers in the framework of higher educational programmes / provisions of adult education are the same as the conditions of service of other academic staff.

The conditions of the service of trainers and instructors working for commercial institutions, various professional associations or non-profit associations are generally set in the Labour Code.
