Organisational Aspects

Strategic documents for higher education defined the improvement of professional competencies of university teachers that should be realized through the following activities:

- Define the criteria for measuring the pedagogical work of university teachers;

- Provide provisions in the normative acts of higher education institutions, in which the criteria for determining pedagogical competences will be concretized;

- Perform periodic self-assessment and external evaluation of pedagogical, didactic-methodical and research qualities of university teachers;

- Establish a system of continuous professional training in the direction of further development of functional and multidisciplinary competences of university teachers.

Some HEIs organize additional training for their employees in the area of teacher competence, teaching, and content creation, e-learning, entrepreneurship and project management, and so on. Training for executive management as well as for professional development of academic staff is often organized in the form of activity-based projects.

Incentives for Participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Activities

Participation in professional development programmes at the national and international level is the criterium that is evaluated during the career advancement related to scientific and educational titles.

Through the activities of the EU project Education for Employment, a new model of study programs for initial teacher training is being developed based on learning outcomes and in accordance with relevant occupational and qualification standards.
