12.4Guidance and counselling in early childhood and school education

Academic Guidance

Guidelines for preschool and school-age is defined by the competent ministry and implemented by teachers, educators and expert advisors. Vocational guidance in schools is usually carried out through individual interviews for the purpose of collecting data on pupils’ interests, abilities, skills and difficulties (within the framework of work of the professional associates), team presentations of several institutions, lecturing guests for specific areas of work, newspapers, round tables, exhibitions of collected materials, joint meetings of parents, pupils and representatives of certain professions (poets, writers, actors, engineers, doctors, ...) and a range of other activities that contribute significantly to familiarization with personal interest and capacity for specific professional choices. Objectives and principles of education stipulated in the laws on education in primary and secondary schools, offer grounds for the conduct of vocational guidance: to ensure pupils acquiring basic and professional competencies, to enable them to live and work in a changing socio-cultural context according to the requirements of the market economy, modern information and communication technologies and scientific discoveries and achievements, and to train pupils for lifelong learning.

 

Psychological Counselling

Psychological counselling of pupils is conducted by a psychologist who works at school.

 

Career Guidance
