9. TEACHERS AND EDUCATION STAFF

 

Introduction

The conditions of service for teachers and core staff are regulated by Laws and Bylaws applicable to the appropriate level of education. There are specialized Laws for the teachers in each level of education. The Laws regulate the conditions of employment, competencies, work duties, working conditions, salaries, professional development.

The teachers can be employed in public or private institutions on all levels of education. Most of the conditions described in this chapter apply to those working in public or private institutions. Most of the descriptions and explanations by the Laws and Bylaws described in the chapter apply to the teachers and core professionals working the public sector. The conditions of employment and qualifications and competencies apply similarly to public and private institutions, as well as professional development, paid leave and retirement conditions. The salaries, career development, disciplinary procedures and support measures are regulated by law for the public institutions and negotiated on different terms in private institutions.
