Pupil Assessment

Measuring and assessing the achievement of students in institutions are carried out according to the following principles. The academic year consists of two semesters complementing each other in terms of measurement and evaluation Measuring the success and achievement with the purposes specified in assessing education programs will be taken into account. Students' success in primary school 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades; It is determined according to the measurement and evaluation principles specified in the curriculum and their participation in the lesson activities carried out under the guidance of the teacher considering their development levels. It is shown in the report as "very good", "good" and "needs improvement".

Student success in the 4th grade of primary school; It is evaluated according to the scores obtained from exams and participation in course activities. Students' success in secondary schools and imam-hatip secondary schools; The exams are evaluated according to the scores obtained from participation in course activities and project work, if any. Term point, year-end score and year-end success score are determined over 100 points in primary school 4th grade, middle school and imam-hatip middle school. In the 100 points system, points from 0-44.99 are considered unsuccessful, scores of 45.00 and above are considered successful.

Primary school 4th grade, middle school and imam-hatip middle school students; In grades 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, two exams are held for each course in one semester. The time of the exams is announced to the students at least one week in advance. The number of exams per day in a classroom / branch cannot exceed two, and the duration of each exam cannot exceed one course hour. In order to allow joint evaluation; The exams can also be held jointly by the school principal, in line with the decision of the related group. The questions and answer keys for common exams are prepared by the group teachers.

Different question types are included in the exams given by the teachers. While distributing the questions according to the topics, they are chosen from the subjects that have been covered since the beginning of the semester and in a decreasing rate, provided that the weight is from the subjects covered after the previous exam. Before the exams, the answer key is prepared together with the questions and kept with the exam papers. The score to be given to each question in the answer key is specified in detail. Exam questions are reproduced and distributed to students as possible.

Common exams can be held on the basis of provinces or districts upon the decision of the relevant group. When necessary, joint exams can be conducted by the Ministry on a country or region basis.
In middle school and imam-hatip middle schools, students are made to prepare at least one project from the lessons or lessons they want in the academic year, individually or in group work, under the guidance of the teacher. Projects are evaluated in the period they are awarded. The project grade of the student who does not give a project is evaluated as zero.

In each semester, students are given 2 points for participation in class activities for each lesson with 2 or less hours per week, and 3 times for those with more than 2 hours per week.

Guidance and social activities are not graded. (MEB Pre-School Education and Primary Education Institutions Regulation, Articles 20, 21, 22)

Progression of Pupils

It is essential that students in primary education not repeat class. However, primary school students, who have not reached the desired level of proficiency, can restudy the class upon the written request of the parents, school principals and teachers. The students who do not attend the school and who cannot be evaluated in primary school during mandatory weekly course hours are required to repeat the class. 

Students are trained in their age group and evaluated as a whole. This stage of training is not an elimination period according to the failure of the students. Social activities as prescribed in the curriculum are considered a period to the extent of their interests and talents cultivated by the joint contributions. Students who are absent for more than 20 days in the academic year could encounter difficulties in achieving an upper class or classes again, and the branch during the last week of the second semester. Decisions by teachers of different disciplines are committed to the relevant section of the e-school system by writing to the Personal Assessment Record. Teachers store a copy of the minutes of the end of the school year in the board in the branch file. In addition, parents are well informed. This decision is made equally by the members of the chair. Middle school and junior religious high schools in the academic year are implemented to empty the lessons for such reasons as natural disasters, teachers’ absence and training programs. Teachers will be assigned to training programs and will be determined by national education directorates. One lesson of the training program period will not be less than half of the total course hours last empty. Students in the first, second and third grade are taken to the teacher in class to upgrade exam the first month of the academic year with the recommendations of the teacher and written request of the parents in terms of knowledge and skills above the required grade level. Those who are successful will be upgraded to a higher class.

This exam class is done by a commission consisting of an upper class teacher under the leadership of school principals and teachers. In case of teachers at the school where the exam examination commission, operates, decisions are determined by the national education directorate. The examination results will be recorded in the minutes. This report is stored in the file by the school administration. The status of the successful processing is stored in the e-school system. Class upgrade exams can be taken in different classes more than once. However, the upgrades are made to the same students once. Those who cannot attend school with their peers and illiterate students of primary school age can be placed into an elementary school classroom in case of successful completion of the first-class education through an examination that will be held in September. Those who take a health committee report indicating that they cannot continue their education and those who certificate that they have started their imam training are not required to be present at school for that specific year. Those who take a health committee report during field reports and those who receive imam training school may not attend the school from the beginning of the academic year during this training. Attendances are provided at the end of this time. These students, when they return to school, may be examined by the commission which is led by the headmaster of the lessons of the academic year. Those who succeed are maintained to a higher class. Primary schools; education and training might be suspended in case of nature disaster, floods, earthquakes, and disease, unfavourable weather conditions that will disrupt education by the decision of the board to the city or county sanitation. In such cases, necessary measures are taken for students missing classes by school management and compensation issues in the city/directorates of district national education. In middle school and junior religious high school, placement programs are implemented for students in case of natural disasters and teacherless during the academic year. Teachers will be assigned to training programs, and provincial/district shall be determined by national education directorates. A course training program period shall not be less than half of the total course of the idle hours (MONE Preschool and Primary Education Institutions Regulation, Article 31, 32, 33).


Students without the need to enter any examination for secondary school from primary school attendance are given education certificate to complete the education. Since the secondary education is a compulsory one, students' enrollment is made on the basis of the information in the national address database.
