Private schools and institutions in Türkiye are established by individuals or legal entities (such as companies, associations, or foundations) at all educational levels and are generally funded through tuition fees. These institutions include pre-primary, primary, secondary, special education schools, international private schools, foreign and minority schools, various courses (e.g., private tutoring, social activity centers, vocational training, distance education), driver’s training and machinery operator courses, in-service training centers, special education and rehabilitation centers, seaman and pilot training courses, language, speech, and occupational therapy centers, student activity, development, guidance, and counseling centers.
Operating under the supervision of the MoNE, these institutions follow the same curricula and maintain the same operational status as public schools. While tuition is primarily covered by families, private schools are required to provide free education to at least 3% of their enrolled students and may also offer scholarships to support additional students. Furthermore, individuals with special educational needs can receive support education at special education and rehabilitation centers, with the costs covered through support education payments provided under the Law on Private Education Institutions.
Private dormitories and boarding houses, operated by individuals or legal entities, offer accommodation services to students attending lower secondary schools, imam hatip schools, upper secondary schools, and higher education institutions.
