11.6Guidance and counselling in higher education

Last update: 20 April 2024

Career guidance in higher education is regulated by the Law on Higher Education, under which universities are required to establish at least one career centre. These centres support students and graduates by providing career information and counselling, maintaining alumni links, organising career events and job fairs, supporting internships and practical placements, and strengthening cooperation with employers. In practice, career centres operate at university level and/or within individual faculties. For example, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje has a university Career Center composed of career centres at its individual units, while Goce Delčev University in Štip also operates a Career Centre to support students’ transition to employment. Recent university activities continue to emphasize internships, employer links and participation in education and career fairs.
