Adult education and training in North Macedonia includes formal, non-formal and informal learning pathways.
Formal adult education leads to recognised qualifications within the National Qualifications Framework. It is mainly provided through vocational schools and Regional Centres for Vocational Education and Training.
Non-formal adult education includes programmes for upskilling, reskilling and further training. These programmes are typically flexible and may be organised as short-term or modular courses. They may lead to the certification of competences, depending on the programme.
Programmes for reskilling and upskilling (dokvalifikacija and prekvalifikacija) represent an important part of provision. They enable adults to acquire new qualifications or update existing skills in line with labour market needs.
Informal learning takes place outside organised education and training settings. It may be recognised through validation procedures.
Provision is designed to be flexible and accessible, including part-time and modular learning opportunities, in order to meet the needs of adult learners.
