The organisation of the academic year 2025/2026 in Moldova is as follows:

Beginning of the academic year Institutional autonomy:  generally in September
Period(s) when there are teaching activities Institutional autonomy: teaching activity is organised by semesters. 
Period(s) of examination

Institutional autonomy:  

  • at the end of the 1st semester:  December/January
  • at the end of the 2nd semester: May/June
End of the academic year Institutional autonomy: August
Breaks between the teaching activities excluding the examination period, if significant*

Institutional autonomy:

  • Winter holiday: January
  • Spring holiday: April
  • Summer holiday: July-August 

 

* A break would be considered significant if longer than a week.
