7.2First-cycle programmes

Last update: 18 March 2025

According to the Education Code, the first-cycle programmes refer to the higher education ISCED level 6 (Bachelor) – called “Studii superioare de Licenţă”.

Holders of the Baccalaureate Diploma, Professional Studies Diploma or an equivalent document can participate in the admission competition in the first-cycle programmes.

The first-cycle studies correspond to a number of 180-240 study credits (ECTS), 30 credits for each semester (3 to 4 study ears).

At the end of the relevant 3-year or 4-year programme, university students are awarded a Bachelor’s Degree Diploma (called Diplomă de studii superioare de licenţă) in the respective study field (fields).

The Bachelor’s degree is considered to be a stage for a Master’s degree (second cycle programmes).

Integrated higher education studies (cycles I and II) refer to the higher education ISCED 7, and are organised in the fields of medicine and pharmacy, veterinary medicine, and architecture.

The cumulative duration of integrated studies (cycles I and II), will correspond to at least 300 ECTS credits. They are organised only full-time.

The diploma issued upon completion of integrated higher studies (cycles I and II) is equivalent to the Master's diploma.
