The qualifications of teachers and trainers working in the field of adult education and training depend on the type of institution and the specifics of the programmes offered.
Adult professional training in the context of formal education can be carried out in the following institutions or organisations:
1) general, VET and higher education institutions;
2) public or private institutions or organisations offering educational services and professional development programmes that are provisionally authorised or accredited;
3) enterprises or organisations providing professional development programmes, provisionally authorised or accredited, to their own employees.
Adult education in the context of non-formal education can be carried out in the following institutions or organisations:
1) institutions and organisations designated for adult professional training in formal education;
2) extra-curricular institutions;
3) child care and protection centres;
4) enterprises;
5) cultural institutions;
6) professional, cultural and trade union associations;
7) non-commercial organisations;
8) community educational centers of public or private law, etc. (Regulation on adult education).
Thus, the minimum qualification requirements for holding teaching positions active in the field of adult education and training are:
- in primary education – possession of a relevant qualification of at least ISCED level 5 – post-secondary non-tertiary vocational education;
- in lower secondary education – possession of a relevant qualification of at least ISCED level 6 – bachelor’s degree;
- in upper secondary education (lyceum) – possession of a relevant qualification of at least ISCED level 7 – master’s degree;
- in vocational education and training – possession of a relevant qualification of at least ISCED level 5 – post-secondary non-tertiary vocational education, in profile programmes, except for craftsmen;
- in higher education – possession of a relevant qualification of at least ISCED level 7 – master’s degree;
- in arts and sports education - honorary titles and prizes obtained in national and international competitions, recognised by the relevant central bodies, confer the right to occupy teaching and scientific-didactic positions.
- to occupy a scientific-didactic position in higher education - it is necessary to hold a level 8 ISCED qualification - doctoral studies and/or the scientific-didactic title of associate professor or university professor (Education Code).
