*The Act on Higher Education and Scientific Activity specifies that the academic year spans between 1 October and 30 September of the following year. Classes can start before the beginning of the academic year, but not earlier than September 1.

Different universities in Croatia and individual faculties and schools at some universities have the autonomy in deciding on their own individual academic calendar. The table shows the approximate/usual periods of examination sessions, lecture periods, and intervals without teaching activities. In accordance with the Act on Higher Education and Scientific Activity, higher education institutions adopt study implementation plans before the start of each academic year. These plans include, among other things, information on the beginning and end of lectures, as well as examination periods.

**Individual higher education institutions may also set extraordinary examination deadlines
