9.4Initial education for academic staff in higher education

Last update: 27 November 2023

Minimum conditions for the election or promotion to the position of member of Teaching Research Staff (T.R.P.) are

  • The acquisition of a PhD title
  • the relevance of the subject of the doctoral thesis, since it is an election process for the position of Assistant Professor, as well as the relevance of the candidate's research, scientific and laboratory work to the subject of the position to be filled.

Holding a PhD is not a pre-requisite for teaching positions in cognitive fields of exceptional and unquestionable particularity where a doctoral thesis is neither possible nor common, according to the “law” of the relevant art or scientific field (de lege artis).

A condition for election in the present cases is the recognized work that is relevant to the academic subject of the position, such as awards in international or national competitions, participation in international or national exhibitions, national or international recognition of an artistic work and independent teaching in courses that fall under in the subject of the position to be filled.
