New format for continuing vocational training

In July 2024, the Minister for Education, Children and Youth and the Centre national de la formation continue (CNFPC) introduced Skillsbridges training courses. This new format of continuing vocational training will be offered from the start of the 2024 academic year and will enable adults to adapt to new technologies and the constantly changing world of work (upskilling), but also to retrain for another profession (reskilling). Skillsbridges training is part of Luxembourg's Recovery and Resilience Plan and is (co-)financed by the European Union.

Three courses are being rolled out from the start of the 2024/25 school year:

  • Artificial intelligence for administrative teams
  • Green space maintenance agent
  • Low-carbon construction and the use of bio-sourced building materials.

From the 2nd half of 2024/25, around twenty other courses will gradually be added.

New platform for learning the Luxembourg language

The new e-learning platform "Lëtzebuergesch léieren online" has been launched at the beginning of the school year 2022/23. It was developed by the National Institute of Languages (INLL) and includes the A1 and A2 level modules and will be progressively expanded up to the C1 level*.

The learning system offers an interface in French, English, German, Portuguese and Luxembourgish with different types of modules (vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, news, etc.). The new platform also responds to the high demand for enrolment in Luxembourgish courses, the number of which has doubled in 10 years (68 000 enrolments in the last 5 years).

This diversity in the supply of Luxembourgish language courses for adults is also part of the government's ongoing efforts to train cross-border workers who come to work in the Grand Duchy.

Highly specialised IT training

Although the Digital Learning Hub's offer is part of the continuing vocational education and training of the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth, the courses offered are also aimed at :

  • interested secondary school or university leavers (with or without a degree)
  • young people who have just finished secondary school or university
  • jobseekers who are considering a professional reorientation (reskilling)
  • digital professionals who want to improve their skills (upskilling).
