This section provides the most recent available data on the number of educational institutions from pre-primary to upper-secondary education level (ISCED levels 0-3). Statistics on numbers and characteristics of higher education institutions can be found on the EHESO platform (European Higher Education Sector Observatory).

The table above presents the number of legal entities (not local sites). Competence centres intervene on schools' demand in the framework of regular education. They help the schools integrate learners with special educational needs into mainstream education as far as possible. Each competence centre also has one or several local sites.
