Upper Secondary Education is assessed by State Matura exams [provimet e Maturës shtetërore]. It comprises tests in:

• Math,
• Albanian Language and Literature,
• Foreing Language.

After the Pupil has passed the relevant exams of State Matura the National Education Service Center [Qendra Kombëtare e Shërbimeve Arsimore] grants State Matura Diploma [Diplomë e Maturës Shtetërore].

In compliance with the new law on higher education , universities examine and admit their applicants based on the average grade of Matura Exams and several criteria defined by them.  The Centre of Educational Services manages the database of average grades of Matura students. It cooperates with the universities and sends them the average grades of the applicants’students. The universities select their students based on their selecting criteria. The entire process runs online.
