This chapter discusses integrated primary and lower secondary education system in Albania. According to the law on pre-university  education system, basic education starts at the age of 6 and lasts for 9 years. It is divided into two cycles. The first cycle (classes I-V) corresponds to primary education and the second cycle (classes VI-IX) corresponds to lower secondary education.
