Higher education institutions: Strategic planning 2025-2028

The “Gesamtscheizerische Hochschulpolitische Koordination 2025-2028. Strategische Planung” [Swiss Higher Education Policy Coordination 2025-2028. Strategic Planning] of swissuniversities, published in June 2022, is the contribution of the Swiss higher education institutions to the “Botschaft zur Förderung von Bildung, Forschung und Innovation (BFI) 2025-2028" [Dispatch on the Promotion of Education, Research and Innovation (ERI) 2025-2028], in which the strategic goals for the coming period and the financial needs.

Switzerland's prosperity and its ability to meet new challenges are closely linked to the quality of its higher education institutions. In order to identify current challenges at an early stage - especially those related to demographic developments, the effects of globalisation, health, environmental and economic crises - and to meet them with constructive solutions, higher education institutions must be able to maintain the excellent quality of teaching and the excellence of research and innovation. In this vein, they reinforce their indispensable contribution to the social and economic fabric of Switzerland.

The strategic objectives include: Thinking ahead in a changing world, ensuring excellence in the international context, promoting young talents and enabling careers, strengthening equal opportunities, diversity and inclusion, safeguarding knowledge and serving society, shaping and mastering the digital transformation, knowledge should circulate (Open Science), commitment to a sustainable society, financial needs.
