KEDASY

The purpose of KEDASY is to support students, schools and ECs in their area of ​​responsibility to ensure equal access to education for all students and to defend their harmonious psychosocial development and progress.

School Networks of Educational Support

SDEY

Purpose of SDEY is:

  1. the promotion of cooperation, the coordination of the work of the school units and their empowerment in responding to the educational needs of their students;
  2.  the development of collaborative actions for the integration of students in their school unit and
  3. the support of the Integration Departments (TE), the parallel support of co-education and the students to whom home teaching is applied where special education and training is required.

Committees of interdisciplinary support of schools of general and vocational education (EDY)

Each SDEY may include up to five (5) school units. Similarly, in SDEY up to five (5) Interdisciplinary Support Committees (EDY) can operate. The EDY operates in the school unit, aims to develop collaborative practices of educational evaluation of students, counseling and support and its operation is based on the practices required by the International Convention on the Rights of the Child (Law 2101/1992) and the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (Law 4074/2012). By decision of the Regional Director of Education, a school unit of SDEY may be designated, preferably a SMEAE, as the support center of the network.

Interdisciplinary support committees of special education schools

In each School Unit of Special Education and Training (SMEAE) there is an Interdisciplinary Support Committee (EDY),

       The purpose of EDY is:

  1. a proposal to the teachers' association of SMEAE, as well as
  2. the cooperation with institutions, services and authorities for every issue that concerns the students of the school unit.

Environment and sustainability training Centres

Their mission is:

  1. to support schools in matters related to environmental education, with an emphasis on ecology and sustainable development and
  2. to connect the educational community and the local community, to ensure the sustainable management of the environment and the highlighting sustainable solutions to local issues.

Natural Sciences Laboratory Centres

 EKFE

Natural Sciences Laboratory Centres operates in Secondary Education Directorates.  They are centres of technical and organisational support for the laboratory teaching of natutal science subjects.  They also give advice for the organisation of school laboratories in primary and secondary education school units.

The National Authority for Higher Education (ETHAAE) is an independent administrative authority whose mission is to ensure high quality in Higher Education. It was established by Law 4653/2020 and is the continuation of the Authority for Quality Assurance and Certification in Higher Education (ADIP),which was founded and has been operating since 2006. It is managed by the President and the Supreme Council. It has administrative autonomy and is supervised by the Minister of Education, who exercises legality control.

As part of its mission, HAHE a) contributes to the formation and implementation of the national strategy for higher education and the distribution of the grant of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and b) evaluates and certifies the quality of the operation of Higher Education Institutions.The Authority guarantees the transparency of all actions and posts on its website the activities it develops and the decisions it takes.

To fulfill its mission, the organization maintains an integrated information system for extracting and managing higher education data, and collaborates with international networks and agencies that develop activities related to its mission. It is a member of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education.

Academy of Athens

Academy of Athens

Objectives

The general and overarching objective of the Academy of Athens, in accordance with its Founding Charter, is the cultivation and advancement of the sciences, humanities and fine arts, along with the communication of the Academy and its Members with other Academies and fellow academicians. To fulfill its objectives, the Academy conducts scientific research projects and studies in the areas of agriculture, industry, shipping, national economy. Furthermore, it issues consultations, proposals, it adopts decisions and judgments for the instruction and guidance of the bodies and authorities of the State. Furthermore, its members make scientific announcements, participate in scientific conferences and international research projects and carry out publications. Furthermore, the Academy grants scholarships and confers awards. Currently, there are nineteen (19) Research Centers and Offices in operation. The Academy's latest major contribution to research is the establishment of the Biomedical Research Foundation.

On numerous occasions, the Academy of Athens has rendered its services to the Greek State through its expert opinion and proposals, usually on issues of major national importance, education and fiscal policy.

Since its establishment, the Academy of Athens has been a member of the International Union of Academies (Association Internationale des Academies) and of the International Council of Scientific Unions). In the course of the past decade, the Academy has joined the following international organisations: All European Academies, European Academies Science Advisory Council, Inter Academy Council, Inter Academy Medical Panel.

National Library of Greece

National Library of Greece

The purpose of the National Library of Greece (NLG) is to locate, gather, organize, describe and preserve in perpetuity evidence of Greek culture and its acquisition over time, as well as important representative evidence of human intellectual production. NLG ensures equal access to these documents based on freedom of knowledge, information and research. To fulfill its purpose, the NLG operates as described in the relevant sections of l. 4452/2017.

The National Library of Greece operates in three buildings (Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), Vallianio, Botanikos) which house its expanded collections and new services. The relocation of NLG collections and services from the Vallianios Megaro to the new building, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, was completed in 2018.

All the book collections of the National Library, as well as the Magazine Collection, are now housed in the NLG building at the SNFCC (364 Syngrou str.). The Newspaper Collection is housed in Vallianio Megaro (32 Panepistemiou str.). The Botanic building houses the Admissions Department and the ISBN/ISSN/ISMN Office.
