In The Netherlands fees are charged to all students.
Fee differentiation policy might be applied to programs with the characteristic of small-scale and intensive education.
Reduction of tuition fees are applied subject to fulfillment of certain conditions.
Direct financial support is available in the form of grants and loans which can be combined.
Indirect financial support is offered in the form of family allowances for students' parents. The age limit is 18 years.

FEES

Fees are paid by all students.
The category students on non-state subsidised places does not exist.
Fee differentiation policy might be applied to programs with the characteristic of small-scale and intensive education. The field of study can only determine the amount of fees to be charged for students that must pay institutional tuition fees.
Fee differentiation applies to 'small-scale and intensive education for which applies a higher amount of tuition fees. In addition, students must pay higher annual tuition fees for small-scale and intensive education. Small-scale and intensive education’ concerns programmes that are: Considerably more intensive than standard programmes including extra-curricular activities; Small-scaled in order to create a high-level academic community; inseparably connected to the social context, which facilitates the achievement of the attainment targets; featured by a stringent admission procedure aimed at realising the optimal match between student and programme; provided with all related facilities in order to have optimal education for highly motivated and talented students.
Reduction of tuition fees is available in case of: EEA-students who start a first bachelor degree (pay the half of the statutory tuition fees for the first year of their studies); EEA-students (first teaching qualification) pay the half of the statutory tuition fees for the first and second year of their bachelor degree, and the first year of the master's teaching degree; EEA-students (teaching degree or healthcare second degree), are required to pay the statutory tuition fees instead of institution tuition fees. This is in order to attract students to both sectors. Additional exceptions leading to reduced fees are available for specific fields (e.g. at the field of teaching education).

Need-based and universal grants are available to home full-time students.
The duration of grants covers 12 months for the entire duration of the education cycle.
The age limit for access to public grants is 30 years.
