In Greece, first cycle home and international students do not pay fees with some exceptions. Second cycle studies bear fees.

There are no short-cycle programmes accredited and integrated in the National Qualifications Framework.

Differentiation to fee is applied based on the education cycle (second cycle) and the type of programme (taught in a foreign language). Differentiation based on the specific filed of study (discipline) of the second cycle.

Waivers and reductions to fees are not applicable for the first cycle of studies as they are offered free of charge to all home and international students, with the exception of the Hellenic Open University. Data for second cycle programmes is not available.

Direct financial support is offered in the forms of specific scholarships. Loans are not available.

Indirect financial support to students and their families is provided through tax benefits for students and their parents (age limit for access 25 years) and family allowances (age limit for access 24 years). For first cycle students that are not studying in their permanent residence, a grant of 1500 EUR/year is given to their parents as an accommodation benefit, based to both economic and academic performance criteria. Students studying for the attainment of a second degree or a postgraduate title are not entitled to this allowance.
