According to l. 4957/2022, each Higher Education Institution (HEI) may, by decision of the Senate, establish and operate a special programme of sudy in pedagogical and teaching competence, the successful completion of which leads to the award of a certificate of pedagogical competence.The programme is of a minimum duration of two (2) academic semesters, includes courses and other educational activities in the subject area of pedagogy and corresponds to at least sixty (60) credit units. 

Enrollment in this specific programme of study is open to students of the Higher Education Institution who have already registered in first-cycle programmes of study, the successful completion of which leads to the acquisition of qualifications for appointment in primary or secondary education or the right to exercise the specialty of teacher in post-secondary or vocational education. An eligible student must have been successfully evaluated in educational activities of their programme of study and have accumulated at least one hundred and eighty (180) credit units.
