During February 2026, the application of new legal solutions that enable high school students to have paid internships with employers was intensified, which is part of the wider reform process in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

2025

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the West Herzegovina Canton has drafted a new Law on Secondary Vocational Education and Training, which was adopted by the Assembly of the West Herzegovina Canton at its 20th session held on January 23, 2025.The West Herzegovina County has started implementing the new Law on Secondary Vocational Education since the beginning of this school year. The implementation of the Act is proceeding gradually, taking into account all the possibilities it provides, such as practical training, exercises and summer internships at a business entity, with the selection of a mentor at the business entity who is responsible for implementing practical training with students in accordance with the curriculum and vocational curriculum.
