A higher education institution, in accordance with the general act, can hire teachers and associates from another university from Bosnia and Herzegovina or abroad, who have an appropriate choice of profession in a narrower scientific/artistic field. The higher education institution, if necessary, in accordance with the general act, can also hire a lecturer from another university from Bosnia and Herzegovina or abroad, who have the appropriate choice of title. The rights and obligations between the higher education institution and these persons are regulated by an engagement contract that can be concluded for a period of up to one year.

A distinguished scientist and artist can participate in the realization of a part of the teaching of a subject at a higher education institution, in accordance with the statute. At the Academy of Arts, associates can, in cooperation with the teacher, perform classes from part of the program or individual forms of professional or artistic work, training in professional knowledge and skills, exercises and other tasks determined by the statute. For the purposes of the realization of the part of the practical teaching that is realized in the higher education institution or outside it, a person who is employed in a legal entity with which the higher education institution has concluded a cooperation agreement can be engaged.
