2025

Increase in state contributions to preparatory courses for professional examinations and higher professional examinations (higher vocational education)

In order to strengthen and promote higher vocational education (preparatory courses for federal BP and HFP qualifications) and to provide direct financial relief for course participants and the economy, an adjustment to Switzerland will be implemented from 1 January 2025, from the current average of 39% to 50% of eligible costs. This will equalise the level of state support for course participants from Liechtenstein and Switzerland.

Amendment to the Scholarship Law

In the interests of equal opportunities and lifelong learning, the Scholarship Law was amended in 2025 and the age limit of 32 years was removed. This means that people over the age of 32 can now also receive scholarships and not only loans for education or further training.

2024

Partial revision of the Vocational Training Act

The Vocational Training Act of 13 March 2008 was partially revised and came into force on 1 June 2024. One key change was the removal of the age limit of 25 for career guidance. In 2024, 110 people in this age group sought advice. This reflects the need for this change and is particularly welcome in view of the shortage of skilled workers.

2023

There were no reforms in the area of vocational education and training and adult learning during the reporting period.
