11.5Support measures for learners in higher education

Definition of the target group

The Education Strategy 2025plus is based on the vision of supporting all people in Liechtenstein in developing their individual potential and enabling them to participate actively, responsibly and independently in a humane, open and democratic society. The Liechtenstein education system aims to provide optimal conditions for lifelong learning in the face of changing conditions brought about by megatrends. Learning-friendly educational institutions represent an inclusive attitude and are based on the realisation of the rights of all learners.

Specific support measures

There is no legal regulations regarding support in tertiary education. The Office for Equality and Diversity at the University of Liechtenstein aims to create equality measures, awareness campaigns and projects for a non-discriminatory and equal working environment. It is the point of contact for questions regarding equal opportunities.

The Law on Higher Education and the Ordinance on Higher Education state that it is the responsibility of the individual institution of higher education to provide any relevant services. However, financial support can be given to pupils with low income through the state grant system.

Through the Scholarship Office, the state supports people in education with educational grants in the form of scholarships and loans.
