At present, Russia's unprovoked armed aggression poses a significant challenge to the Ukrainian education system, among others. The ongoing war in Ukraine is not just a territorial dispute, but a struggle for national and cultural identity, freedom and the right to self-determination. Therefore, the role of education and science today is not only to prepare learners for life and further education, but also to shape their national consciousness, cultural values, sense of responsibility, autonomy and critical thinking.

The Ukrainian education system continues its transformation towards integration with the European Education Area. In the context of the ongoing war, this is both a major challenge and a vital necessity for Ukraine's future. The individual is at the centre of every aspect of this transformation.
