Teachers’ remuneration is regulated by top-level authorities for all education levels.
The minimum qualification level for teachers at all education levels is ISCED 7. In addition, they must pass a competitive examination and undergo a one-year traineeship.
The salary progression of teachers is based on steps (échelons) within the grade scale. The steps are associated with a fixed statutory salary. The progression is regular.
Most teachers are civil servants.
