The minimum qualification level required for teachers is ISCED 7 and a pedagogical qualification at all education levels except at pre-primary where the qualification requirement is ISCED 3 and additional certificate for pre-primary teacher training.

Teachers' salary progression is determined by the salary grades and length of professional experience. Advancement by gaining further qualification is not applied.

Teachers are included among education staff. They are employees of a legal entity which carries out activities of a school or school-facility. Education staff in public schools are employed on a contractual basis. The employment contract is concluded between the teaching candidate and the school and the applicants are recruited via open recruitment procedure.
