The first cycle, in which the study programmes are implemented, corresponds to the sixth level of the framework structure of Latvian and European qualifications. 

The amount of full-time first cycle studies is no less than 180 national credit points and three years of study. 

First cycle higher education programmes are developed in accordance with the national higher education standard: 

• Regulations on the national standard of academic education
• Regulations on the state standard of professional higher education 

The content, scope, and achievable results of the study programme, as well as the assessment of achievements, are the same in full-time and part-time studies.
