Adult education institutions are led by principals and depending on the institution also vice-principals. As adult education comprises all education from basic education to higher education, the qualification requirements and conditions of work of the principals are the same as for principals of the same type and level of education in education for young people. Also the recruitment and appointment follow the same principles.

In liberal adult education the qualification requirements are also the same as in other types of educational institutions, that is, a teacher qualification for that type of education and studies in educational administration. The conditions of work are basically the same as well, such as working time, holidays and retirement.
