Finland does not have a school inspection system as quality assurance is based on trust and professional responsibility, not external control. Instead, each education provider is responsible for evaluating the quality of the education and training they offer.

Evaluation is carried out collaboratively by school management and teaching staff. Therefore, there are no separate inspectors or specialised staff for this purpose.

In addition to self evaluation, schools participate in national and international evaluation projects.
