9.3Continuing professional development for teachers working in early childhood and school education

Since March 2010, the Minister of Education instructed the “Autonome Hochschule in der DG” with the organization and implementation of the continuing professional development for teachers on the basis of the continuing education programme approved annually by the Educational Training Commission.

The Educational Training Commission, in consultation with the stakeholders of education, determines the educational priorities for continuing professional development. This commission is composed of representatives of the Centre for Special Education, the Centre for middle-class education and training, the external evaluation, the department Education, the “Autonome Hochschule in der DG” and representatives of the various school networks.

The annually designed training programme of the training commission is planed for the teaching and educational staff of the primary and secondary schools, the Institute for Continuing Education, the part-time artistic education, the middle-class Education and Training, for the staff of the educational institutions and for PMS-staff.

The tasks of the training commission includes, among others:

  • the planning, the organisation and the evaluation of training sessions;
  • the advice for teachers in training issues;
  • professional consultancy in the field of in-school training;
  • the cooperation with national and international partners.
