Last update: 27 November 2023

According to the Law on the Education System Foundations, adult education teachers and trainers have the right and obligation to participate in professional development programmes, organised in the same way as those for other teachers in primary and secondary education. For more details, see the section on Continuing Professional Development for Teachers Working in Early Childhood and School Education. On several occasions, special training courses for primary and secondary education teachers were organised in order to train them to work with adult learners. From 2010 to 2013, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development launched the Second chance project, which provided training for 1355 primary and secondary school teachers in order to prepare them for work with adults within the general education programme.
