Learner mobility

Nordplus Adult

Nordplus Adult is a sub-programme within the Nordic Council of Ministers’ mobility and network programme Nordplus, which focuses on lifelong learning, education, mobility, and languages.

Nordplus Adult is aimed at organisations and institutions in the field of adult education, vocational training, and non-formal education in the Nordic Countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden), the Baltic countries (Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania), and the autonomous regions of Åland, the Faroe Islands, and Greenland.

The target group of Nordplus Adult is broad and covers all organisations and institutions working with adult education and learning. Examples of eligible organisations and institutions are formal adult education institutions, folk high schools, evening schools, vocational schools, centres for adult learning, etc.

Nordplus Adult supports mobility projects for learners, including exchange of adult learners. The aim of the exchange is to provide participants with new competences and professional skills. Grants for travel and subsistence are offered for the exchange of adult learners between Nordplus countries.

The Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science is responsible for providing information and guidance for applicants from Denmark.

Teacher and trainer mobility

Nordplus Adult

The Nordplus Adult programme also offers grants for teacher and trainer mobility. Nordplus Adult supports activities such as:

  • Exchange of teachers and other adult education staff;

  • Collaboration projects.

The aim for the exchange of teachers and other adult education staff is to provide the participants with new professional skills and experience of other cultures and learning traditions. Grants for travel and subsistence are offered for teachers and other staff in training courses and self-organised study or teaching stays in another Nordplus country.

Collaboration projects must involve cooperation between at least three organisations or institutions from three different Nordplus countries. Adult education organisations and institutions can apply for grants to three different collaboration activities:

  1. Thematic networks where participating organisations/institutions work with a shared theme by exchanging knowledge and experience with the selected theme, thereby creating the basis for new knowledge and new initiatives;

  2. Development projects where participating organisations/institutions carry out joint development work that can lead to the development of new teaching material, courses, modules, methods, platforms, etc.;

  3. Mapping projects where participating organisations/institutions define development needs and present recommendations for future initiatives.

The Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science is responsible for providing information and guidance for applicants from Denmark.
