Other Dimensions of Internationalisation in Early Childhood and School Education

Iceland is a member of the Council of Europe and has been an active participant in its work in the field of education for several decades. In addition to participating in various projects at all levels of the educational system, Icelandic teachers have also benefited from the Teacher Bursary Scheme of the Council of Europe, which offers in-service courses for teachers in member countries. Iceland regularly participates in meetings of the administrative committees of the Council of Europe in the field of education and Ministerial Conferences.  Iceland is a party to the treaty of the Council of Europe regarding mutual recognition of examinations given by upper secondary schools, and on this basis Icelandic students have an easy access to European universities.  

In 1998, Iceland joined the European Centre for Modern Languages, which is operated under the auspices of the Council of Europe. The interest among language teachers and schools is increasing as this activity becomes better known. A new policy toward the enhancement of international cooperation concerning curriculum has been  developed as a part of  the National Curriculum Guides and the new National Qualification Framework

Global and Intercultural Dimension in Curriculum Development

A new policy toward the enhancement of international cooperation concerning curriculum is now being developed as a part of the revision of the National Curriculum and the new National Qualification Framework that is being developed in the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture.  

Partnership and Networks

A new policy on the enhancement of international cooperation on the curriculum was developed in the new National Qualification Framework
