The Greek Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports has adopted a new ministerial decision to address violence and bullying in schools. An online platform for reporting incidents and training programmes for teachers are key components of this approach. 

Slovenia has introduced new amendments to the Basic School Act, aiming to modernise the education system, promote multilingualism, and provide equal opportunities for students. The changes include compulsory learning of a first foreign language, a renewed extended basic school programme, and improved home schooling regulations. 

In September 2024, the Ministry of Education and Merit has published the ‘Guidelines for the teaching of civic education’. Introduced in 2020/2021 by law 92/2019 as a compulsory subject, it replaces the former ‘Citizenship and constitution’ subject.  

The published guidelines are based on three areas of civic education: 

Spain has introduced new national programmes aimed at improving student competence in mathematics and reading comprehension. The Ministry of Education has allocated nearly €95 million to the autonomous communities for this academic year. 

As the world is becoming increasingly innovative and technologically advanced, rapid adaptation to new challenges is essential. Vocational education and training (VET) plays a pivotal role in this process by developing the country's social capital and preparing a skilled workforce to meet the demands of the modern economy.

A draft resolution of the Council of Ministers on the establishment of the Digital Transformation Policy for Education has been submitted for public consultation, and inter-ministerial agreement.

A new Sectoral Agreement was signed on 15 July 2024 between the Malta Union of Teachers (MUT) and the Maltese Government. This agreement will be effective until 2027 and includes all educators in state schools, approximately 8,000 in total. Additionally, it directly affects educators in Church Schools, whose separate collective agreement will reflect the working conditions outlined in this Sectoral Agreement.

In line with a growing recognition of the importance of mental health in education across Europe, several initiatives were also lunched in Serbia as a support to well-being of students.
