Riksdagen (the Swedish parliament) has legislative power. It has 349 members representing different political parties that are elected through general elections every fourth year. The number of members each party is represented by depends on the proportion of votes it receives in the election. A party needs to receive at least four percent of the votes to be included in the parliament.

Arbetsmarknadsdepartementet (Ministry of Employment) deals with issues that concern a well-functioning labour market.
