Re-establishment of Model and Experimental Schools in Greece: fostering and dissemination of the best educational practices

17 September 2020
Country news

The new reform measures for upgrading school (l. 4692/2020) include reinforcing the institution of Model and Experimental Schools. Model and Experimental Schools will contribute in better educational planning and in the pilot implementation of education policies, so that the best educational methods, practices and tools are fostered and disseminated throughout the education system.

Model Schools, first and foremost, aim at fostering and disseminating the idea and practice of exception in education. Experimental Schools, first and foremost, aim at supporting experimentation and the pilot implementation of  innovation in education, in random samples of the student population.

The purpose of Model and Experimental Schools is to:

a)    develop innovation practices for the self-improvement of students;

b)    encourage talent and prominence;

c)    implement pilot teaching programmes, methods, tools and material;

d)    promote research;

e)    disseminate experimental teaching practices;

f)    create associations of creativity and innovation;

g)    serve as an ideal teaching environment for practicing undergraduate and post-graduate students.
