Malta

European, Global and intercultural dimensions in curriculum development

Post-compulsory institutions in Malta, including Ġ.F. Abela Junior College, Sir M. A. Refalo Sixth Form, and Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary School, play a crucial role in preparing students for higher education and broadening their academic horizons through language studies and intercultural activities.

Learner mobility

The then Ministry for EU Funds, Social Dialogue and Consumer Protection launched calls for applications for the European Social Fund+ 2021-2027 programme, targeting various actions that support quality and inclusive education and enhanced lifelong learning for growth. The actions proposed need to be in line with one of the following two specific objectives:

Student Mobility

Several national initiatives exist to facilitate student mobility to European countries, particularly targeting undergraduate and postgraduate students. These programmes aim to promote specialisation and foster stronger connections with European educational frameworks. By supporting studies at ISCED levels 6-8, they contribute to producing highly qualified graduates, enhancing employability in key sectors of Malta's knowledge-based economy.

This chapter provides information on national policies that promote mobility and internationalization in education. Political, economic, environmental and social developments taking place within the globalized world undoubtedly impact educational developments and policies. Malta’s strategic position within the European and Mediterranean regions necessitates that it is continuously alert to global changes taking place, including in the educational field.
