Through bilateral agreements with other countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports and other state bodies, signs educational-cultural agreements and executive programmes; hence, they offer the institutional framework for the development of educational and cultural relations with the countries in question.

Primary education

With regard to pre-school and school education the European and international dimension is reflected in the:

Learner mobility

Erasmus+ Key Action Mobility for Learners in Adult Education offers mobility opportunities for adult learners.  

The action will contribute to the implementation of the Skills Agenda and to the creation of the European Education.

Specifically, the objectives are the following:

The Directorate of Organisational and Academic Development of the Ministry of Education is responsible for:

Student mobility is mainly promoted through:

  1. the Erasmus+ (2021-2027) European Commission programme
  2. the e-Twinning action.

Erasmus+

Concerning school education, the National Agency is the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY).

Academic guidance

Within the framework of ifelong learning and training centres (KEDIVIM) operating in the country’s higher education institutions, the existing structures and student support services are also used by adult students of higher education.

Definition of the target group(s)

One of the goals of the law for the development of lifelong learning (law 3879/2010) is to ensure access of individuals to general adult education.
