National Student Fee and Support Systems in European Higher Education 2022/2023
Student fees and financial support measures are important instruments to support access to progress and achievement in higher education. In European countries they vary significantly depending on the national policy approaches and criteria.
The purpose of this biennial publication is to present a comparative analysis of European education systems and their specificities with regards to the policies applied to student fees and support.
The publication uses data provided by the 37 Eurydice network member countries through their Eurydice National Units. It is based on official documents issued and/or recognised by top-level authorities. Data were collected in the period June – September 2022.
Comparative analysis
The comparative analysis presents student fees and financial support policies by outlining specific features per study cycle, student category, type and status, and is based on data from 39 education systems: the 27 EU Member States (Belgium is represented by the French Community, Flemish Community and German-speaking Community), together with Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, and Türkiye.

The national information covers 37 participating countries, represented in 39 information pages (Belgium is represented in three pages, respectively, for the French Community, Flemish Community and German-speaking Community).
