Structural indicators for monitoring education and training systems in Europe - 2023: The teaching profession

This report presents the results of the 2023 data collection on the Structural indicators for monitoring education and training systems regarding the teaching profession.
It examines how education systems are addressing the growing problem of teacher shortages – in general, for certain subjects, in disadvantaged schools or at specific geographic areas. It also investigates alternative pathways to enter the teaching profession, which contribute to ensuring a sufficient inflow of qualified teachers. Finally, it analyses how appraisals are used to support teacher professional development, career and salary progression.
The 2023 update of the Structural indicators covers 38 European education systems.
