Italy: New Measures for School Activities in 2021/2022

On 6 August and 10 September 2021, the Government approved two Law-Decrees containing urgent measures to contrast Covid-19 pandemic for the academic year 2021/2022. The measures apply to all institutions of the State and Regional education and training systems. 

In brief, the Decrees establish that:

  • Distance learning will not be carried out unless otherwise decided at regional or municipal level and exclusively for institutions located in the red or orange areas of risk – according to national criteria;
  • All staff and students must wear a mask, with the exception of children under the age of 6; 
  • School population must ensure 1 meter social distance; 
  • Access to premises not allowed to those with a body temperature above 37.5 ° C;
  • Scholl staff and higher education students, must have a valid 'Green pass';
  • External staff and visitors accessing the premises, including parents, must have a valid ‘Green pass’.

Disposition on the ‘Green pass’ do not apply to persons exempted from the vaccination campaign for certified reasons.
