The programme ‘Olympic Education - 4th Olympic Week in schools’ will be implemented for a fourth year in a row, from 22 to 26 April 2024, by the Hellenic Olympic Committee and the National Olympic Academy, in cooperation with the Physical Education Directorate of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports.

The Olympic Week in Schools aims at reaching out to and including all those who are involved in education, at inspiring, raising awareness and motivating pupils in the development of attitudes and skills that stem from the spirit of Olympism. It is addressed to schools in the country and specifically to three age groups of pupils: 6-8 years old (Primary School), 9-12 years old (Primary School), 13-15 years old (Lower Secondary School).

The main topics for information and awareness raising of pupils are:

  • Ancient Olympic Games,

  • Modern Olympic Games,

  • Olympic Games Athens 2004,

  • Olympic ideals - ethical issues.

Given the above topics, the motto of the Olympic Week for the school year 2023-2024 is: "The Olympic Week on the road to Paris 2024". Participating schools will have the opportunity to get involved in a diverse programme that includes a number of relevant sports activities and events, creative and artistic projects, as well as online meetings such as for instance with Olympic premises in Ancient Olympia in Greece and with the Olympic Museum in Lausanne.
