Greece: Launch of the new Skills4Life Question Bank

The Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports is pleased to announce the launch of the new "Skills4Life" Question Bank, available since February 12, 2025. This innovative tool, developed in collaboration with the University of Ioannina, is designed to help secondary education school students (Gymnasium and 10th grade) with enhancing their skills in Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Reading Comprehension.
The "Skills4Life" Question Bank focuses on applying school knowledge to real-life challenges, supporting students in strengthening their basic literacy skills. It is aligned with the New Curriculum Frameworks and international educational standards.
Key Benefits:
- For Students: Engaging in problem-solving exercises that build essential skills in basic literacies.
- For Educators: Access to practical questions that can be integrated into teaching methods.
- For the Educational Community: Familiarisation with digital problem-solving tools and real-world applications.
Currently, the Question Bank includes a total of 482 questions (113 in Mathematics, 160 in Natural Sciences, and 209 in Reading Comprehension).
The questions vary in format, from multiple-choice to short-answer and mixed-type questions. Many are interactive with simulations (particularly in Mathematics and Natural Sciences). For each answer, feedback is provided with explanations for correct responses and common mistakes.
The platform is designed to be user-friendly and interactive, allowing users to evaluate question quality and to create personalised folders. Each topic includes comprehensive metadata (e.g., assessed skill, application area, difficulty level), which also serve as search criteria within the Question Bank.
The development of "Skills4Life" is part of the Ministry’s broader strategic initiative to modernise education and cultivate essential competencies evaluated on an international level. This initiative bridges school knowledge with real-world problems, fostering critical thinking, reflection, and the use of digital tools in learning.
The Question Bank is continuously being updated. It is freely accessible to students, educators, and parents— particularly useful for 9th and 10th-grade students.
