Belgium - French Community - National Student Fees

National Information

Belgium - French Community

OVERVIEW

  • In Belgium – French Community, the payment of registration fees is a requirement for all students (except specific categories) and is applied in all education cycles.

  • There is no fee differentiation depending on the education cycle, the field of study (specific discipline) and programme (taught in foreign language, studying for a second degree etc.). Fees may differ depending on the type of higher education institution.

  • Waivers or reductions are available, subject to criteria depending on the socio-economic status of the student.

  • Direct financial support is provided by need-based grants. Loans are not available.

  • Indirect financial support to students and their families is provided in the form of tax benefits (for students' parents and for students with income) and family allocations. Students benefit from additional reductions such as transport, culture events' tickets etc. The students' age limit so that their parents are eligible for family allowances is 25 years.
