Curriculum, subjects, number of hours

The curriculum for the organisation of studies for post-secondary and post-secondary non-tertiary technical vocational education in Moldova is carried out according to the Framework Plan for Secondary, Post-Secondary and Post-Secondary Non-Tertiary Vocational Education.

Types of institutions

According to the provisions of the Education Code the post-secondary and post-secondary non-tertiary technical vocational education in Moldovan correspond to the following ISCED levels:

  • ISCED 4 – post-secondary vocational education and training, organised in Colleges (Colegii)

Pupil assessment

The method of ongoing assessment of learning outcomes is determined in accordance with the specifics of the module/subject, as well as its volume and duration. Current evaluation tools may include oral questioning, written assignments, essays and projects, interviews, portfolios, computer-assisted assessment, etc., and are established by the teaching staff at the beginning of the academic year.

Curriculum, subjects, number of hours

According to the Education Code, the state educational standards in technical vocational education are developed by the Ministry of Education and Research, with the participation of employer representatives, coordinated with the relevant central public administration authorities, and approved by the Government.

Types of institutions

According to the provisions of the Education Code the secondary technical vocational education and training (VET) in Moldovan correspond to ISCED 3 level. It is organised in vocational /professional schools (şcoală profesională) and centre of excellence (centru de excelență). 

Pupil assessment

The evaluation and grading process is carried out in accordance with the Regulation Regarding The Assessment And Grading Of Learning Outcomes, Promotion and Graduation in Primary and Secondary Education, approved by the Ministry of Education and Research.

According to the Education Code, the Ministry of Education and Research is the central authority that approves state educational standards, regardless of the type of ownership and legal form of organisation of the educational institution. 

Types of institutions

The general upper secondary education in Moldova is organised in lyceums

Lyceums can be separate educational institutions or represent larger complexes that include different combinations of education types and categories of institutions (e.g. primary school + gymnasium + lyceum or gymnasium + lyceum).

Pupil assessment

The evaluation and grading process is carried out in accordance with The Regulation on the Assessment and Grading of Learning Outcomes, Promotion, and Graduation in Primary and Secondary Education, approved by the Ministry of Education and Research.
